For those of you that think I sit around by myself and rant about Boston sports, well, I’ve got nothing on my roommate. Check out his recent rant on 98.5 The Sports Hub, in regard to the Patriots head-scratching 2011 draft class. You won’t regret it.

Entertaining. One day the BB era will end and Pats fans won’t have to worry about trading the 28th pick for more picks. Instead you’ll have to concern yourself with who the Pats are picking first overall.
Good point. That day will be depressing.
I literally cant listen to people who think they know better than BB anymore. Its ridiculous.
Everyone knows better than him. Everyone thinks we screwed up because we needed a DE. Everyone hates that we keep trading away picks. Guess what – Everyone hated the Devon McCourty pick last year too. How about the two TE’s how’d that work?
BB will never draft front 7 players in the top end of the draft. It never happens. (almost never save wilfork and seymour).
We needed tight ends and cornerbacks last year. We didn’t need 2 running back this year, any way you cut it.
because you have such a good handle on the needs of the patriots. You thought taking a OL in the first round was a bad idea. Excuse me if I dont have a ton of faith in your assessment of the Patriots needs
The Pats were 30th in the league last year in opponent passing yardage. Why? Because they got 0 pressure on opposing QB’s.
Meanwhile, the O-line was good enough that we had the 9th best passing attack and the 11th best running attack. Making our O-line much better than are D-line. Wait, you’re Bill Belichick now and statistics don’t hold true? We needed help on both lines, but I thought they should have started with the D-line. Not the O-line followed by two running back and a QB, when we already have 2 running backs coming off great years and the best QB in the game. Just because Belichick is very successful doesn’t mean he’s above criticism.
the trading picks strategy has gotten them zero super bowl victories. when they were winning they had multiple early round picks and actually used them
Why does it matter when they have two picks in the first round. They didnt see good value in the second pick and they moved it. When they see something they want they will get it. Especially after a rookie pay scale is hashed out.
And Jimmy, their regular season record since they started trading picks has them at 73-23. Your right, its not working at all. However, the Jets who trade up and draft high in the same time frame (since 2005) are 47-49. They definitely have the right plan.
If you want to keep putting together a team good enough to win the regular season championship go right ahead, you and the eagles can have your huge parades every year the week after christmas.
The Packers have a great amount of first few round picks and they just won the whole thing and are set up.
I know Bill always thinks he is the smartest guy in the room, and it seems you do too. Maybe the game just caught up to him, or maybe he is not cheating anymore.
I think he is the smartest guy in the room, but I don’t think that makes him unaccountable. And I do think you can overdo a good thing. And I do think that your strategy needs to change a bit as Brady is getting older.
My comment was really directed at Williams, who seems to treat everything this guy does as gold, when in reality yes the regular season have been good but two straight beatings in the playoffs, which followed getting out coached by Steve Spagnolo in the super bowl are not exactly resume boosters.
Yes, I know it was. Just weighing in with my opinion ahead of whatever his retort will be.
Giants are 59-37 with a superbowl. Would I rather have a superbowl? Absolutely. But don’t say we are doing something wrong
My issue with this is we only have Brady for so may more years, and we’re not putting the best talent around him.
you guys are right. I forget why I post on this board sometimes.
Geoff our OL is why we lost the game against the Jets – not our DL. Warren comes back this year – no one is talking about that. Jermaine Cunningham – who BB obviously loves – will have another year of development – not that that matters. And if there is a season there will be still be free agency, but your right they suck right now.
Moreover, we dont need anyone on the DLine. If we were a base 4-3 maybe but we arent. The need you are alluding to is OLB. Possibly the second most complex position to play in BBs defense (ILB). But who cares… lets get a rookie to do that instead of say – a free agent.
If we had a defense that consistently put pressure on the opposing QB we would not be letting up 28 points to Mark Sanchez. I don’t think you can say we lost the game due to our OL. Brady threw for 300 yards.
Last thing I will respond to before I wait another week to forget why I post anything here because obviously you two are the smartest sports people in the world – Jimmy your right . We will keep making it to the playoffs and eventually win again. ill take our regular season record and 3 SBs in the past 10 years to your shitty regular season record and 1 SB.
no matt you are right as usual. you may want to get a new catch phrase you have been using the same one since you were 19. if you dont want to get in a dicussion about it go away.
If you just want to be told how right you are all the time go talk to you mom, you are not gonna get that from me.
I’ll take our record to, but what makes you the smartest person in sports hotshot? We can’t disagree with you? I forgot, all hail captain swimming. J-Bone, as opposed to you, actually played football. I’m not saying you can’t be knowledgeable having not played a particular sport, but I don’t think going around sarcastically calling people the “smartest people in sports” is warranted just because they disagree with you.
listen to your father
You tell ‘em.
