After losing Randy Moss, picking up former Patriots hero Deion Branch, and much apprehension over playing arguably the NFL’s best team in the Baltimore Ravens, the Patriots squeaked out a huge 23-20 overtime win on Sunday. Moving to 4-1 on the season, the Patriots have now forced their way into the elite teams in the league this season discussion — whether it’s warranted or not.
The Patriots could not have looked worse for the majority of this game, but managed to keep the score 20-10 going into the 4th quarter. They then did their thing — Tom Brady drove the team down the field with ease, Deion Branch looked like his old self, and the defense made several huge stops in the overtime period. This win will likely go down as the Patriots trademark victory this season.
One huge mark of contention — yeah, I’m talking to you Billy boy. In the fourth quarter with four seconds left in the game, the Patriots had a chance to win the game with what would have been a 62-yard field goal. The kick would have been downwind with an excellent kicker, for the win, and to avoid overtime. Yet Bill Belichick opted to throw a hail mary into the end zone, a choice that seemed completely absurd to me. If given a shot at winning the game with a field goal, why not take it? If I were Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski I would have been livid — way to not trust your kicker, Bill. As a Patriots fan I am more than happy to have the play calling reigns in your hands, but this is one call I could not disagree with more. You’re lucky as hell that we pulled it out in OT.

good win for the pats, it was one of those that if they win they are a legit team, if they lose they really cant beat anyone good. It was a good statement win.
Agreed on all accounts. It was a great win in the sense that they pulled it out, but if you watched the game it looked pretty horrible for 3 quarters of the game. It’s a win that I’m psyched about, but I can’t get ahead of myself seeing how it happened.
I love the Suggs quote on what Brady was saying when they were jawing back and forth
““He was trying to tell me how to bag a Hollywood actress. He said, ‘If you want to get a Hollywood actress, take my seminar on Saturday.’ …He was going over the Dow and the economy and politics. He doesn’t really talk football that much.”
Brady is the man. Kudos to him for getting in Suggs’ face and talking some smack. He got rocked, with a late hit, and completed a huge pass on that play.
I bet the reason they didnt try to kick the field is that 62 yards is out of Gostkowskis range. If the guy has never made one that far before then why try it, its more likely they catch the hail mary. Im pretty sure Bellicheck knows his team better than you and if there was a chance he could have made it then they would have tried.
Gostkowski has made a 59 yarder is a game, the wind was with him, and he routinely makes bombs before the game. I thought it was an awful call.
I am just as excited about the Patriot’s win as any other borderline Pats fan, but there is no reason that today’s post should not have been this clips of Rachel McAdams, I don’t care if Barstool already posted it, this should be widely distributed, and hung up in our living room at a still jpg. What the hell is Barstool? Clearly not anything worthy of being mentioned on this blog.
It’s a website by some hack who calls himself the Prez and tries to convince the masses that he is actually cool while himself trying to navigate his late thirties and find meaning in his otherwise mundane life by calling girls sluts and using extreme hyperbole to further his “cause”. All in all it’s pretty good though, you should check it out!
What am I going to do next, read The Union Leader to get my news?
if you truly do not know what barstool is you are a useless individual. The site is amazing and should be what you aspire this blog to become.
I aspire to be nothing like this barstool crap that you speak of. “The Prez” is an absolute fool.
And don’t you have anything to say about the behind on Ms. Adams? Come on, a little respect please.
It was very lovely, but we have too much respect for the ladies out there to stoop to Barstool’s level. I love you mom.
