Leave it to Michael Wilbon, who is undoubtedly the man, to perfectly capture the feeling surrounding the Celtics loss to the Heat and the road ahead for the winningest team in NBA history. The good news? Doc made a pact with Rondo to return, and all of the big 3 plan on coming back. I think as we saw this year, age is clearly a factor with this group. It’s now up to Danny Ainge to see if he can bring in some young talent to make this team fly once again. Word of advice Mr. Ainge – once you get a crew together for next season, keep them together. Thank you.

Its going to be tough to bring in young talent with all the money they have tied up in the people they already have.
They have 61.4 mil tied up in the big 4, jeff green, avery bradley, and the bloated corpses of the o’neal twins. The projected cap is 58 mil.
Shaq is a free agent, Jermaine has an option I believe, Jeff green is a free agent, and Ray is only making $10 next season. They’ll have plenty of wiggle room. Nenad, Big Baby, Delonte, Von Wafer, etc are all free agents as well. Baby has stated he wants a starting roll on some team, although he’d like to stay, so he’ll be gone for sure I would think.

shaq is under contract, it looks like the other o’neal does not have an option, Green has one more year as far as I can tell.
According to ESPN, Shaq has an option, Jermaine is signed for one more year, and Green is a restricted free agent.
Danny A pretty much just decided he did not want to win a championship this year when he traded Perk, Nate, and the Turk. I don’t understand it and never will. The worst part is that now I am a diehard fan and will watch this team wallow in mediocrity for the next ten years. I don’t think the C’s can make a run for it next year unless we get something good for Big Baby, who will be gone because he has seen what Tony Allen and Poe got for time as starters. It is unfortunate, but we shall see what happens. We need some young talent and also, sadly, need to start thinking about rebuilding for the post Big Three Era. Screw you Danny for ruining my May.
I agree that the trade was bad at the time. But does Perkins help the Celtics win the series with the Heat?
I think he absolutely helps – Ray Allen was spot on when he said that the Celtics lost this series on the defensive end do to letting the Heat drive and score in the paint. That’s the area that Kendrick was effective in locking down for us. Obviously Wade and Lebron would still be able to get some of those points in the paint, but not nearly as many. Does that mean we would have won this series? I don’t think so. But I do think it would have been a much closer series.
